2013 Weddings - some familiar places

Tonight's wedding, while short, was very nice.  This one took place at the Howell Opera House, which I have reviewed before.  In case you missed my review, search for "opera house" in the search bar on the left.  What I haven't done in the past is provide a lot of pictures, so here they are...

This is my setup, with the new lighted facade.  I think it looks clean and professional, hopefully you feel the same way.  The reflective tape on the tripods prevents numerous accidents every year.  I see a lot of DJs who wrap their tripods in white (which looks a little tacky to me) and worse yet, in black, which makes them even harder to see when the lights are low and people are dancing.  There are plenty of venues that don't allow sufficient space for the DJ's setup or have them setup in a high traffic area and having someone's grandmother or aunt trip over a speaker stand with her walker is just not a good thing, so I made sure they COULD be seen.

Food was provided by Gerard's Catering and was VERY good.  They were also smart enough to put the salad and salad plates at the end of the line so you don't have to carry two plates while getting your main course - SMART!

EcoBooth at Pink Party

The 2013 Howell Pink Party was huge success once again.  Guests tried out our new EcoBooth photo booth and loved it!

Over 150 pictures were taken and placed in our wedpics.com gallery.  Everyone seemed to like the fact that EcoBooth is the ONLY socially-networked photo booth of it's kind.

The full gallery of pictures from the photo booth can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151671308470733.1073741827.604480732&type=3

GREAT tip for upcoming weddings!

Over this past weekend, I was introduced to a wedding tip that you'll ALL want to use - because it's FREE! I try to stay on top of new technology and useful apps for smartphones, but this one slipped past me.

WedPics is one of the best ideas I've seen for weddings. It is the modern day version of leaving a disposable camera on every table for guests to take pictures. The bride and groom register their date on the wedpics app, create a password and have the option to order cards to be placed on the tables at their reception (you could probably just make your own cards). Guests download the app (itunes or android), create an account (or login with facebook) and login using your wedding ID. They can then take pictures and upload them to a gallery that everyone (that has the ID) can see.

What is the cost? FREE! The cards probably have a cost, but the app and gallery do not.

They Took Back the Night!

The 2013 Take Back the Night rally and march, took place on April 4th in Ann Arbor.  Take Back The Night provides awareness about sexual violence and rape.  It empowers survivors to reclaim the right to be free from violence and have their voice be heard.  The DJ Guy volunteered services for the rally portion of the event.

Limited TIme Special...

Last month, The DJ Guy experienced an uncontrollable loss of communication with clients due to my main contact phone number being accidentally removed by my cellular provider during a porting error.  After dozens of phone calls and countless hours talking to various customer service agents who said "the number cannot be restored," I finally got through to someone who knew how to do it.  The number has been restored, but the damage has been done.  During the week my phone number was lost in limbo, my website traffic peaked (commonly a busy weekend for bookings) and no one could contact me other than through email.

Here's how my loss, is your gain.

For the next two weeks, I'm rolling back prices.  Book during this time and you'll get $150 OFF the regular price of any wedding package.  This offer is not valid holiday weekends (as many of those dates are already booked or soon will be).  This is the largest discount I have ever offered and it will not be extended or offered again.  If you're thinking about booking a DJ for your wedding, NOW is the time to do it.

Call or email me and I'll be happy to setup a meeting with you to privately discuss the details or your wedding.
